Want to return to running but not sure how? This is how we can help you.

At SportsFit Health and Rehab Gladesville, we don’t believe in the old-school “just go for a jog and see how it feels” approach to running rehab. When it comes to helping injured athletes return to running—and ultimately, to sport-specific performance—we take a structured, progressive, and highly individualized approach. And one of our favorite places to do this is Bill Mitchell Park.

Here's a quick video of what we do: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMM-vEhyw6q/

Rehab Running: Not Just “Going for a Run”

Rehab running with us isn’t about lacing up your shoes and hoping your body holds up. It’s about rebuilding trust in your body, retraining movement patterns, and graduating through a clear performance pathway. Here’s how we do it:

Who are these field sessions for?

These sessions are specifically designed for athletes who want to improve their running technique, improve their agility, speed and fitness.

We also tailor these programs for athletes recovering from a variety of lower limb injuries. We regularly work with athletes dealing with:

  • ACL reconstructions

  • Hamstring strains and tears

  • Achilles ruptures

  • Post-operative injuries (including meniscus, cartilage, and fracture surgeries)

  • Chronic tendon or overuse conditions

Each injury has its own unique demands, which is why our rehab running sessions are never one-size-fits-all.

Load Monitoring & Tolerance Building

ree

Running is a load-intensive activity. We help you rebuild your tolerance safely using progressive exposure to load:

  • Start with structured acceleration/deceleration drills

  • Progressively increase running volume and intensity

  • Incorporate change of direction, reactive change of direction and contact drills

  • Monitor response to load both during and after sessions

We track your progress closely—using subjective feedback, movement analysis, and objective performance metrics—to ensure we’re hitting the right level of challenge without tipping into overload.

Return-to-Sport Progression

Every sport places different demands on the body. Whether you're returning to football, netball, athletics, or any other sport, we simulate the movements and conditions you'll face on game day.

Our return-to-sport rehab includes:

  • Linear and multidirectional running

  • Deceleration and reacceleration drills

  • Sport-specific scenarios (e.g. reactive agility, sprint efforts, repeated efforts)

  • Mental readiness strategies

Guided, Not Guesswork

What sets SportsFit apart is that we guide every step of the way. You're not left to guess when it's safe to progress or how fast you can ramp up. Our team of experienced physiotherapists and rehab professionals are with you on the field, coaching, adjusting, and supporting.

We don’t just want you running again—we want you confident, strong, and ready to perform at your best.
