Supporting your mobility, independence, and confidence — right where you live.
For many people, travelling to a clinic isn’t always practical. Whether due to mobility challenges, recent surgery, chronic conditions, or simply the convenience of staying at home; home‑visit physiotherapy offers a safe, personalised, and highly effective alternative.
At SportsFit Health & Rehab, our home‑visit physios bring the same clinical expertise, equipment, and care you’d expect to receive in clinic, just in a more convenient environment.
If you’ve never had a physio visit you at home before, here’s exactly what you can expect.
1. A Warm Introduction and Clear Plan for the Session
Your physio will arrive at your home at the scheduled time, introduce themselves, and briefly outline what the session will involve. This helps set expectations and ensures you feel comfortable from the start. We want to know about you & your life: not just your injury!
We’ll check in on:
How you’ve been feeling since your last session
Any new symptoms, difficulties or concerns
What you want to get out of today (e.g., improving walking confidence, reducing pain, practising stairs)
This conversation guides the entire session and ensures everything we do is meaningful and relevant to your daily life.
2. A Thorough Assessment, Tailored to Your Home Environment
One of the biggest advantages of home‑visit physio is that we can assess you in the environment where you actually live, move, function and experience your pain/issues.
Your physio may look at:
How you get in and out of bed
How you move around your home
Your balance
Walking pattern
How you manage stairs, steps, or uneven surfaces
The setup of your bathroom, kitchen, or living areas
This allows us to identify barriers and opportunities for improvement that aren’t always visible in a clinic setting.
3. Hands‑On Treatment When Needed
Depending on your condition, your physio may provide hands‑on treatment such as:
Gentle joint mobilisation
Soft‑tissue techniques like massage, needling, cupping
Pain‑relief strategies
Guided stretching
These techniques help reduce discomfort, improve mobility, and prepare your body for movement‑based rehab.

4. Exercise Therapy Using What You Have at Home
You don’t need a home gym for effective rehab. In fact, some of the best exercises use everyday items.
Your physio may use:
Furniture like chairs, benches, steps, rails
Resistance bands
Light weights
Your own bodyweight
We’ll teach you exercises that are safe, achievable, and directly relevant to your daily activities — whether that’s standing up from a chair, walking confidently, or improving strength and balance.
5. Functional Training for Real‑Life Tasks
Home‑visit physio particularly shines when it comes to practising or improving on the tasks that matter most to you.
This may include:
Getting in and out of bed
Navigating your home & backyard safely
Improving confidence on stairs
Practising transfers ( getting in and out of bed, chair, toilet, car, etc)
Building endurance for walking around the house or community
These skills directly support your independence and can help reduce the risk of falls.

6. A Clear Plan and Follow‑Up
At the end of the session, your physio will summarise:
What was achieved today
What exercises to continue doing by yourself
Any equipment or supports that might help you achieve your goals
When your next session is scheduled
You’ll always know exactly what to work on and what the plan for what the next steps are.
