Taking the first step toward recovery can be exciting—but also a little nerve-wracking. At SportsFit Health and Rehab, we want your first physiotherapy session to be as smooth and informative as possible. Here’s what you can expect!
Step 1. Understanding Your Concerns

All our appointments begin with a conversation.
From the start, we make space for your story—as well as your symptoms. Whether you're dealing with a dodgy shoulder, tight lower back, or post-operation rehab, we take time to ask:
How it started
What makes it better or worse
What your day-to-day looks like, and how your injury is impacting this
What your goals are
No cookie-cutter questions. Just genuine curiosity to help you move forward.
2. Setting Goals for Your Recovery

Every rehab journey should have clear, measurable goals. At SportsFit Health and Rehab, we help you define objectives that guide your recovery and keep you motivated.
Goals:
✅ Provides Clarity & Direction
✅ Motivates Consistency by tracking tangible progress instead of focusing on setbacks.
✅ Prevents Overloading or Setbacks A progressive approach avoids rushing recovery. Defined goals ensure patients don’t push too fast, reducing the risk of re-injury or plateaus.
✅ Aligns Treatment With Long-Term Outcomes
By setting structured, data-driven goals, we ensure that we can track clear progress markers that show you exactly where you are improving, and what areas we need to focus on.
This leads to a more successful long-term recovery, minimising re-injury down the track.
3. A Thorough Assessment

This is where we get into the clinical nuts and bolts of what is going on with your injury. We assess on both a tissue-specific level as well as the broader, bigger picture of your whole body. It can include any and all of the following bundles of testing:
Clinical Interview & Subjective History
✅ Injury history, lifestyle factors
✅ Training/work load
✅ Your individual pain pattern & presentation
✅ Recovery expectations
Special Testing
🩺 Precision testing: Ligaments, tendons, nerves, pain provocation
🩺 Differentiate structural vs. functional deficits
Objective Strength & Mobility Testing
📊 Force analysis: Strength asymmetry, stability, balance
📊 Data-driven rehab: AXiT Force Plates & VALD Force Frame

Functional Movement
🔍 Key assessments: Range of motion, gait, power, landing mechanics
🔍 Optimized movement: Identify areas to improve on
🔍 Compare side to side: Break down your movement into key components to analyse quality of movement
🔍 Plyometrics: Jumping, hopping, leaping - how well can your body produce & absorb force?
🔍 Running analysis: For our ultra-marathoners, weekend warriors and everyone in between!

We believe education is key to your recovery. We’ll explain:
Your condition in SIMPLE terms you can actually understand,
Your expected recovery timeline
Other factors that are influencing your injury or have potential to influence your recovery.
Anything you can do to boost your recovery and get that 1% edge
Your Personal Treatment Plan
Based on our findings, we’ll work with you to come up with a custom recovery plan, which may include:
✅ Hands-on manual therapy for pain relief
✅ Targeted rehabilitation exercises for long-term progress
✅ Strength and mobility training
✅ A return to work/sport programme
At this stage, we always take the time to ask for your feedback and understand what drives you, so that this treatment plan fits in with everything else going on in life.
At SportsFit, we understand that you are more than your injury. Every step is designed to help you progress with confidence and achieve long-term results.
